First inis:eto mix of ’22 comes courtesy of dear friend Seiji aka Pallaksch.
Seiji is an active member of the Tokyo deep listening kru, ideala. Thanks to an introduction from Pianola, Seiji and I started hanging out during his regular trips to Okinawa. A true min’yo head, he introduced me to lots of beautiful folk music and local matsuri celebrations, including a pretty sketchy tug of war contest in Haebaru.
This mix, entitled ‘Okinawa Omoro’ was originally recorded to accompany a friend’s exhibition in Naha. Consisting of vinyl from the Okinawan islands recorded during the 60’s//70’s, it’s a unique and poignant snapshot into the distinctive min’yo sound. Hope you enjoy!
